The writer of the books published by Callie-Co is Gloria Morgan. Gloria Morgan has always been a writer. When she was 10 years old she used to sit outside every day of the long, sunny summer holidays, under the shade of an apple tree in the garden, and write stories.
During the sharp, breezy in-between days of spring and autumn, after school she used to change into her warmest jumper, fold up a woolly scarf to make a cushion and sit outside on the back step and write stories.
In winter cold, when the days were short and it got dark early, in the evenings she used to curl up on the settee by the living room fire and write stories.
A lot has changed in her life since those far off, happy days but one thing hasn’t. She’s still writing stories today.
Gloria says: “The great thing about writing is that nobody dictates to you what to put in or what to leave out. It’s entirely up to you. The only limit is how far you let your imagination fly.”
Gloria likes to read, too.
“When you read what other people have written they’re telling you what’s inside their head. They might be miles away, on the other side of the world perhaps. They might not even be alive any more. Reading their thoughts is like a great conversation across time and space, entering into another person’s mind. There’s nothing like it.”
Here are 10 things Gloria Morgan loves:
I love the taste of crisp, sweet, crunchy apples. I love going for long walks, better still with a dog. I love growing plants in my garden or on my window sill.
I love tadpoles.
I love the velvet touch of a rabbit’s fur. I love the sound of children laughing. I love singing.
And 10 things she hates: I hate it when people are mean and unkind and spiteful.
I hate it when someone promises to do something and then they don’t.
I hate not being able to see the people I love as often as I would like. I hate it when my team loses.
I hate it when I break something or lose something that a friend gave me. I hate it when someone blames me for something I didn’t do.
I hate it when a pet I love dies.
I hate it when people make up lies and pretend it’s the truth. I hate it when people don’t say thank you.
I hate it when it rains on my birthday.
